FAQ

ENAMEL EROSION

What is enamel?

Enamel is:
• The outer layer and a protective shield for your tooth.
• The hardest substance found in the body.
• Made up of minerals, and doesn’t contain any living tissue. This is why the body cannot regenerate it once it is lost.
• Important for a healthy beautiful smile.

What is enamel erosion?

Although enamel is very hard it can be attacked by acids from our diet. Enamel erosion occurs when these acids, including those in a normal healthy diet, attack the outer layer (the enamel) of teeth, making it softer and weaker so that it can be worn away. If this process is left unchecked it will steadily progress and eventually lead to the loss of tooth enamel. At that stage nothing can be done because the body cannot rebuild it.

How can you diagnose enamel erosion?

Diagnosing enamel erosion requires a detailed examination by a dental health professional. For professional advice, diagnosis and to learn more about factors that can increase the risk of enamel erosion make sure you visit your dentist regularly.

What causes enamel erosion?

A number of factors can contribute to enamel erosion, including:
• Frequent consumption of food and drinks with a high acid content.
• Brushing teeth immediately after consuming acidic foods or drinks.

Can the body replace lost enamel?

No. Enamel does not contain any living tissue, so the body cannot replace it once it is lost.

Why should I care if my enamel is eroded?

Enamel is the outer protective layer of the tooth and is also responsible for tooth appearance. Enamel erosion can lead to dental health problems.

Who is most likely to be affected by enamel erosion?

Everyone regardless of their age, is at risk of tooth erosion due to daily consumption of acidic food and drinks. In addition, some people are particularly at risk including those who suffer from certain eating disorders.

Can children get enamel erosion?

Yes. Children are also at risk of enamel erosion. Research has shown that everybody at any age can suffer from enamel erosion, since its onset is linked to dietary habits and the frequent daily consumption of acidic food and drinks.

Can children use REGENERATE Enamel Science™ Advanced Toothpaste ? - (To BE CHECKED WITH MARKETS FOR LOCALIZATION)

The REGENERATE Enamel Science™ Advanced Toothpaste can be used by children of all ages in line with the general recommendation for the use of fluoride toothpastes. Children of 6 years and younger should use a pea-sized amount and minimize swallowing. If your children are taking supplements containing fluoride or you live in a region where there is fluoridated water we recommend you consult a dentist or doctor before using REGENERATE Enamel Science™ Advanced Toothpaste.
The Boosting Serum system has been designed to be used by adults. Therefore we would not recommend use under the age of 14 because of the adult-size mouth shield provided. The forming of the mouth shield in hot water is not suitable for children.

What are the long term consequences of enamel erosion?

Dental expert Prof David W Bartlett, King’s College London, tells us: “For most people tooth wear is a slow process which is part of the ageing process. But in extreme cases the erosion of tooth enamel can lead to more serious complications such as complete destruction of the tooth and in rare cases tooth extraction".

How do I know the status or level of erosion of my enamel?

The initial stages of erosion are invisible to the naked eye.
For professional advice, diagnosis and to learn more about factors that can increase the risk of erosion, make sure you visit your dentist regularly. Effective management of dental erosion is largely dependent on a thorough understanding of its causes and early diagnosis by professionals.

NR-5™ TECHNOLOGY

What proof is there that NR-5™ technology works?

The NR-5™ technology has been developed over 9 years of international research. A series of scientific studies has been carried out and the results of these studies showed that the NR-5™ technology reverses the early invisible signs of enamel erosion.

The product is safe. The warming and tingling sensation a small number of users experience is a result of the high concentration of active ingredients in the NR-5™ and NR-5+™ technology in Regenerate Enamel Science. The unique waterless formulationonly gets activated in the mouth when brushing. It is this activation that can cause some to feel a tingling in their teeth. This should be temporary and is NOT harmful. However, severe pain is unexpected and people who experience this should stop using the product, report to the careline and consult their dentist for advice.
